Instructor: Mary Johnson, Parent Aware Certified Trainer
This training is required by caregivers and foster care parents prior to providing care for infants and children under school age. This course gives caregivers information about how to prevent SUID, such as laying infants on their backs, not smoking around children, and washing hands to prevent transmission of diseases to infants. SUID can strike without warning to usually seemingly healthy babies. Abusive Head Trauma training informs caregivers about the crime and its consequences. AHT can be caused by direct blows to the head, dropping or throwing a child, or shaking a child. Participants will leave with a certificate of attendance. This training is required to be taken every two years for family child care providers and every year for center child care providers.
